Welcome to Neatly, a smart meal planning and grocery shopping app designed to help families stay organized, save time, and reduce waste. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use Neatly. Neatly is owned and operated by Tommy Østgaard Consultancy (Org. Nr. 922888329) in Norway.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following personal information from you:

  • Name - Used to personalize your experience and to display names within shared family groups/kitchens.
  • Email Address - Used for authentication purposes via Google or Apple Sign-In. Your email is not accessible to other users.
  • Subscription Data - If you subscribe to Neatly Premium, payment and subscription details are processed via the Apple App Store.

3. How We Collect Your Information

You provide your name and email when signing in through Google or Apple. Subscription data is collected through Apple's App Store and is not directly processed by us.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

  • Authenticate your account and provide access to the app (contractual necessity - GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
  • Display names within shared family groups/kitchens for a better user experience.
  • Ensure security and prevent fraud (legitimate interest - GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).

We do not track user activity or collect analytics at this time.

5. Data Sharing and Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal information. However, we use third-party services:

  • Firebase (Google) - We use Firebase Authentication, Firestore database (hosted in eur3 region), and Firebase Storage to store your data securely. Google may process data outside the EU but complies with GDPR via Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).
  • Apple - If you subscribe to Neatly Premium, Apple processes your payment and subscription data.
  • OpenAI - We use OpenAI to parse and generate recipes. No personal data is passed to OpenAI, and it does not store any user data.

6. Data Retention

Your data remains stored until you request account deletion. If you uninstall the app, your data is still retained unless you explicitly delete your account. Subscription data is retained as required by financial and tax regulations.

7. User Rights & Choices (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

You have the following rights:

  • Access & Correction - You can access and update your personal data.
  • Account Deletion - You can delete your account via our support page: https://useneatly.app/support.
  • Opt-out of Data Processing - We do not track user activity, so there is currently no tracking to opt out of.
  • Data Portability - You can request a copy of your data.

8. Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security practices, including:

  • Encryption of data stored in Firebase.
  • Access control to ensure user data is protected from unauthorized access.
  • Secure authentication via Google and Apple Sign-In.

9. Children's Privacy

Neatly is not intended for children under 13. If you are under 13, please do not use Neatly. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. This policy complies with GDPR (Europe, including Germany), COPPA (United States), and other international regulations that protect children's privacy. In some jurisdictions, the required age for data processing consent may be 16+. If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child under the applicable age has provided personal data, please contact us so we can delete their information.

10. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored in Firebase's eur3 region (European servers). However, Google Firebase may process data outside of Norway and the EU. Google ensures GDPR compliance via Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If changes are significant, we will notify users via email or an in-app notification.
